Nolan, previously based in New York, will move to Singapore to take over his new role.

He previously served as managing director with the long-only fixed income team within the traditional asset management business of Morgan Stanley Investment Management.

Nolan, who joined Morgan Stanley in 1989 in the fixed income sales and trading division, also worked at investment management in 2005 as co-founder of a group focused on quantitative investing for five years.

Ronald Ong, chairman and chief executive of Southeast Asia, said: "This move illustrates Morgan Stanley’s continued commitment to building the business across Asia, and confidence in Singapore as a gateway to Asian markets."
