BNY Mellon has named David Cruikshank as the new chairman for Asia Pacific, replacing Stephen Lackey who has held the role since 2011.

Cruikshank will be based in Hong Kong, and will report BNY Mellon president Karen Peetz.

He will chair the Asia Pacific executive committee and spearhead the regional management team in implementing the company's business strategy for Asia-Pacific.

He will be the company's primary representative with the local regulatory authorities and oversee the region’s client management, working alongside the firm’s global business heads.

Cruikshank, who joined BNY Mellon in 2003, currently heads the corporates and public finance market segment team within global client management. 

His other roles at BNY Mellon include CEO of treasury services, and global head of sales and relationship management of treasury services.

He also served in global transaction service organizations of Citibank and ABN AMRO Bank, holding several roles such as European head of marketing, sales and service; global head of solution delivery and head of client service and implementation for North and South America.

BNY Mellon chairman and CEO Gerald Hassell said: “With his many years of experience and international perspective, I am confident that David Cruikshank will continue to drive the momentum we have gained in the region under Stephen's leadership as Chairman of Asia Pacific."

Lackey will now serve as the vice chairman of the firm's Pennsylvania region, as well as will also take over a new strategic client management role within the global client management group.

In the role of vice chairman, he will work with BNY Mellon Pennsylvania chairman Ian Stewart, and the region’s other executive officers to lead the Pittsburgh campus, and develop partnerships within the Pittsburgh area.

He will also support the ongoing development of key client relationships and manage the APAC client team in New York.

Lackey, who joined BNY Mellon in 1981, earlier held the position of director of global corporate development and investor relations at BNY Mellon.
