Spanish bank BBVA has forayed into the Indonesian market by opening a representative office in Jakarta.
The Jakarta office will identify business opportunities in the country and will primarily offer products focused on capital market activities and trade finance.

The company has named Carlos Gastón as new chief representative officer for the Jakarta office.
The new office is situated in SCBD, Jakarta’s new financial district, next to the Stock Exchange.
Gastón said: "The growing interest of Spanish companies in this market combined with BBVA’s experience in the region should allow us to become leaders in the intermediation of increasing trade flows between Indonesia and the main regions in which we operate."
