Deutsche Bank has appointed former Julius Baer banker Paul Arni as new head for its Swiss wealth management unit, effective 1 September 2017.

The German bank said that the appointment is part of its new growth plan to deepen its focus in Switzerland, in particular with executives, entrepreneurs and family offices based in Switzerland.

Arni will be responsible for company’s expansion in Europe to deepen its focus in Switzerland and aim at becoming the international bank of choice.

Based in Zurich, Arni will report to Peter Hinder, head of wealth management for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Arni most recently served as the market head of Zurich and deputy regional head of Switzerland at Julius Baer. Prior to that, he held the role of global COO at Credit Suisse.

Commenting on the appointment, Hinde said: “Paul Arni is an experienced private banker and manager with an excellent track record in growth and client focus. I am sure he will strengthen our Swiss teams with his network and expertise and accelerate the growth of our Wealth Management business with Swiss clients.”
